Gimley (2007-2025)

Gimley was more than a cat.

He was my friend and companion. He was a beautiful little soul and I will miss him dearly.

My words don’t seem adequate to describe how much he meant to me.

I rarely saw him hiss, bite or scratch. He was a very friendly cat to everyone, he wouldn’t run and hide from guests.

He would greet me when I came home, would sit with me when I watched TV and would sleep beside me at night, usually trying to wake me at 5am because he was hungry.

When my wife Dorothea died in 2020 Gimley was there to comfort me with his purrs and his warmth. He knew when I was sad or upset. He was a clown when I needed it and even times when I didn’t.

I never figured out why but he would lie on my shoulder whenever I would do radio interviews at home. Many of the composers would comment about how beautiful a cat he was and how calm he was.

I honestly think he thought I was talking to him.

Now he’s gone and my heart is broken.

Sleep well, Buddy, you were one of a kind.
